Hi, my husband ordered a dozen red roses to be delivered on valentines day. The first one to die or go over was the next day and now 4 days on almost half have gone over. As you can tell, I don't get delivered flowers very often, but is 4 days rather short for professionally arranged roses.
My valentine roses lasted 4 days, a tied arrangement, is this normal.?
that is about average if you did not recut the stems and change the water every day. that is something they sometimes forget to tell because the florist is so busy that time of year.
Reply:it depends on many factors,
if they were well watered
used aquaplus flowerfood, i
f they were premium fresh roses
how long the company hand them before
if your roses were wired,
if they were kept out of heat and direct sunlight.
roses aren't typically know to be a long lasting flower. premium long stem roses from equidor can last up to two weeks.
I really hope you enjoyed your flowers it truly is one of the best gift to recive ever!
Reply:That was so sweet of your hubby. It is sad when that happens to roses, and, unfortunately, it's the worst on Valentine's Day. That's because they are shipped early to the shops so the shops have time to do the orders, etc. One thing to do to help them last a bit longer is to recut the end stems of the roses--take a utility scissors and at an angle, make a new cut. Also, replace the water in the vase every other days. I keep all of my roses by drying them. I cut off the blossoms and put them in a flat glass bowl and air dry them. You can use them as potpourri (add some essence) or just display them in a crystal bowl .
Reply:Yes! it is,but if you can get them out of the water if you still have them.
Tie upside down in a very warm room in the house...maybe close to a dryer, or hot water heater or even a warm room.
Leave for 2 weeks....and 'maybe' just ,maybe you can still keep some of them...as a reminder how hubby was thinking of you.
Now when you have them dryed...pick out say 4-5 of the best or even more! and take a nice frame.Remove the glass, and just stick them on carboard in side the frame....don't replace the glass....and for a yr....they should look sweet!
Cut off stems...to fit the frame .Your roses will then remain in your heart a little longer! :)
Reply:Yes and no. I have seen it happen both ways. It is according to the shop and how they handle their merchandise. But cut flowers do not live long.
Congratulations on receiving roses.
Reply:Cut flowers espesially roses do not last long. 5 or 6 days would be the maximum for roses. But they should at least all last a few days.
