'Women have a lot more to offer the Church than flower arranging and cleaning brass. It's important that the Church puts women's God-given gifts to good use. It needs them!'.' Rachel, a lay Anglican woman.


Rachel is the name of the person and the quote is what she said. What I have to do is write a letter, explaining why you think their position is wrong. You should deal with their arguments as well as presenting opposing ones. Letter doesn't have to be very long. Thank You Very Much For Your Help!

because in education it is important to understand that students must be able to take and think through various postulates. Not only thinking that it was wrong, but that it could also be right. It is as if their saying that to say that is wrong, like a fact. Yes it states to include opposing views, but what kind of opposing views can you conclude when the assignment says it has to be wrong. Totally not educational at all. Especially in this century.

It is unquestionable to believe that women posess their right in church. Women are subservient to men and therefore are not worthy of god. Only men can commune and have visions and be mytics, and politicians. because God is a man. And so, woman was created from man and woman sinned first. Therefore she deserves punishment and seclusion. Only as nuns, but they could never be clergywomen. What an insult what a disgrace, to Jesus the Christ. ( Who in fact defended women and was seen to heal and respect them)

If god is the alpha and the omega dont you think the alpha and the omega includes women as well since its everything.





Her sex tempted him to eat too, therefore she is more driven to evil.





Men and Women as equals both decided to sin, and both fell from Eden how come one earns more than the other.


Women are capable of excersicing great leadership and they are definitely more devoted that could help in the relationship with god. However men and women equally can be both devoted and great.. they are part of each other and united...then why cant they share the church..?

Reply:While it's not specifically stated, it's inferred that the author of the statement seems to think that flower arranging and cleaning brass are God-given gifts ONLY to women. It's a very sexist remark. I'd be more inclined to think that Rachel was really Ray, or that it was written in the 40s or 50s and needs to be updated. The "gifts" are also related to material-ness and not spiritual-ness.





Once again...a big waste of time (and money) on the freaking church.

but anyway, here's a suggestion. This is a difficult task because it asks you to go against the way most of us think. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who thinks that women *don't* have alot to offer the church and think about why that might be. Or you could go really left field and argue that Rachel is, by her comments, trivializing the role of women in the church- try that one if you dare :)





now go on, engage your brain and get an A+
