Doing my own wedding flowers any ideas?

I am getting married in September and want to save money by doing my own flowers. Do you know of any good web sites or stores to order bulk flowers from? Any ideas or tips on how to arrange flowers and which ones are the most hardy? My colors are white and blue with a few pink accents.

Doing my own wedding flowers any ideas?
You can try places like Costco or Sam's Club. I have heard some good things about flowers from there.

Are you planning on doing just the bouquets or are you centerpieces floral as well? If you are going to do just the bouquets I would say your best option would be to go to Safeway (or if you have it in your area a wholesale flowermart). You can pick up a nice bouquet for a fairly good price. Michaels has a lot of supplies for putting the bouquet together...I believe they also offer classes. Just make sure that you do a few practice bouquets. The last thing that you want is to be struggling the morning of the wedding. Sometimes creating what you want can be more difficult then you think...I know I've learned my lesson about that.
Reply:I did my own flowers and they turned out great. I would highly recommend www.theflowerexchange.com to buy your flowers. Mine arrived on time, in great condition, and they lasted over 2 weeks. I was so pleased with the flowers that I ordered a bunch more for Thanksgiving. Again, I was very impressed. As for tips, I used this website (http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.ht... which gave great tips.

Congrats and good luck!
Reply:I would ask your local florist if they can sell to you wholesale. They will have the freshest flowers and get them on time. Aslo here is a site I like to use for decorating my events. www.BeeBows.Net Hope this has helped. Good Luck!
Reply:My sister in law helped me out with the flowers. We got our fake at like Target. They turned out to be really nice.
Reply:I dont know if your florist could do this, but it is worth asking. I got married last march and the florist told me that to do a flower arrangement would be 60 dollars but if I went and bought my own flower they would only charge me 10 dollars. But I also had fake flowers Craft stores have lots of different flower to choose from too, good luck
Reply:i do not know if you have considered silk flowers, which are waaaay cheaper than real ones, but here is the site i brought mine from and i am getting married may 18th of 2008 and everything is planned and done for under 10k. good luck. www.csilkc.com they have pictures of previos real brides with their own unique creations. hope this helps.
Reply:Check out Samsclub.com or Costco.com.

I am doing my own flowers as well, and I am going to get my roses from Sams Club. I checked them out in the store to see their quality and they are really nice.
Reply:WHen I was thinking about doing my own flowers this is where I was going to buy them through but I found Safeway! I know it sounds wierd but grocery stores have florist and they tend to run about the third of the price of a florist shop!!! Every florist in town qouted me like 800- 1000 for my flowers because I wanted lilies. Safeway I am only paying 350! And that is for 3 bouquets, 12 boutineers, 3 mom's corsages and 3 grandmas wristlets! Plus it will save you the stress of doing your own! I helped with my brothers and man was it stress ful!!!

Reply:I had a co-worker who did her own wedding and even took a class with her sister and mother-in-law at Adult Education in flower arranging and did her own wedding. Also you might check out the books from the "for dummies" series.

Reply:Depends if you want real or fake.

I bought mine and Michaels and put them together myself (well i will). They are silk

I am spending about 60$ for 3 bouquets
Reply:Like someone else mentioned I got mine through a grocery store florist. We used Albertson's. They were really cheap and I didn't have to worry about anything except for making the order and arranging someone to pick them up. As a bonus, roses (I used roses) were on sale the week of my wedding so they were even cheaper than they would have been.

It is a good way to go because I don't think that you could make them much cheaper and it saves you a lot of headache.

  1. I did my sister's flowers for her wedding a couple of months back and would suggest, if you have time, taking a class or buying a DVD that shows how to put flowers together. And take a test run before your wedding. There is usually a junior college in the cities that offer a flower class. And a few online wholesalers that offer a good selection of flowers and low prices. You can try http://www.wholeblossoms.com where I had a positive experience in buying my sister's wedding flowers.
