What flowers open at 3:00?

"Carl Linnaeus, the eighteenth-century botanist, even invented a floral clock. Noting that petals open and close at the same time each day (because they're synchronized to how much light they receive), he arranged flowers in sequence, using the movement of petals to tell time." --Diane Ackerman.

Does anyone know of any books that can tell me what time of day certain flowers open and/or close?

Does anyone know of any flowers that open at 3:00 in the afternoon? This need not be exactly to the minute!

Thanks in advance.

What flowers open at 3:00?
Linnaeus did actually work out a clock based upon flowers to tell time, he used flowers with fixed opening times that are independent of the weather. He called these aequinoctales rather than meteorici because they respond meteorological conditions.

"Horologium florae"

The scarlet pimpernel opens its flower at 8:00 AM and closes it at 2:00 PM.

The dandelion opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 5:00 PM. The morning glory opens at 10:00 and closes at dusk.

The water lily opens at noon and closes at 2:00 PM.

Hawkbit, a dandelion look-a-like, closes at 3PM

Goatsbeard opens at noon and closes at 6:00 pm.

California poppy opens at 1:00 PM and closes at dusk. Chicory opens at 2:00 PM and closes at 5:00 PM with white waterlilies.

Four-o'clock opens at 4:00 PM

Evening primrose %26amp; moonflowers opens at 6:00 PM.

Where do i stand when it comes to my nosy neighbour and my fence?

iv fallen out with the nosiest neighbour youve ever known, and last year we agreed to go halfs on removing the hedges from our gardens and have a fence, they were all up for it they even rang the guy and arranged the date etc, I payed up front for the whole fence which was £300 and not had a penny off them. Now i want to remove the fence panels to paint then only they have stapled flowers to it on the other side %26amp; have said they would get me done for criminal damage to there property,Its my bloody fence. Does anyone no my rights and what action i should take

Where do i stand when it comes to my nosy neighbour and my fence?
Since they never paid you for half of the fence.. yes it is yours. Just inform them that you are going to paint and that they should remove their flowers. Let them know when you plan on doing it and if they haven't done it by then.. oh well, they were informed. It's awful to have bad neighbors, but when its your property.. you are in the right.
Reply:As far as I know it depends which side the posts lie.

If the posts are on your side then the fence is designed to keep them out, hence it's yours. If they lie on his side, well it's his.

If you have posts on both sides or alternating, it's shared.

What to do, wait til night time and knock them all down, throw some newspapers around the garden, knock down some other random things and then blame it on high winds during the night.

Then put in a 50ft hedge.

That'll work!
Reply:you are legally responsible to replace the left side of your fence if its the left side you replaced it is there property the only thing you could do is put another fence beside it on your land
Reply:Go to mediation with your neighbor!

It is important to open the lines of communication again. You may get everything you want, or at least figure out why they are being so odd. Maybe if you promise to put the flowers back on they won't have any complaints.

Good Luck.
Reply:report them to your local council and start a diary of when they are abusing your rights
Reply:about ten foot hight with loaded water balloons!
Reply:Check your deeds (if you dont have them, the mortgage co will).

This will tell you for sure who is RESPONSIBLE for the fence.

Send a RECORDED DELIVERY letter informing them of your intentions and observations, giving them a timeframe.

At the same time, tell them to desist from securing plants etc to your property.

By the way, I found that that 'Spray Cuprinol' gives a great finish.
Reply:I think if the supporting posts are your side, It's your fence, and you have a legal right to maintain your fence on both sides, but you have to ask for permission to enter their property to do the maintaining, so I assume that you would have to go their side to remove the fence panels? after giving them fair warning, to remove any plants stapled to your fence, but check with a solicitor, they will give you free advice, if you ask for free advice!

If you had only a verbal agreement for shared costs, I'm sorry I think you have lost your money! but good luck.
Reply:Wait a Minute

Did he have the right to paint on your fence

If not SUE HIM...!
Reply:Suggest that they stop tresspassing on your fence with their stapled flowers and also make good on the damage caused, or maybe they can be done for vandalism!
Reply:Paint it without removing the panels and make sure it drips through to the other side and marks it making it look unattractive.
Reply:It all depends upon who owns the fence not on who paid for it.First check with the local council re tenants behaviour/legal situation, councils have a responsibility for tenants. If the fence is yours (you can check this on your house deeds) ask them to remove their plants by ???? a date because you are going to remove the fence panels for painting/maintenance.Would suggest you inform them in writing as well as verbally.Ask citizens advice for any information they might have on the matter.Afraid you can say goodbye to your £150 though.Hope this helps.Good luck.
Reply:I would have thought, that if you had paid for the fence in the first place, then as it is your property, you have the right to take it down to do any repairs needed, if your neighbours have stapled flowers to it the it is they who are committing criminal damage if any, best to go to a citizen advice centre, it is normally free to ask for advice, good luck

How to show her she's special to me?

I have a very dear friend who lives overseas, so it's difficult to show her what she means to me.

I've actually had notions of her as a girlfriend in the past... and although she is very fond of me, she's made it clear that the 'boyfriend/girlfriend' thing isn't ever going to happen.

Up to date, I've written letters to her, sent her greeting cards, have arranged flowers for birthdays and for no reason at all and have made many long-distance phone calls, all of which have been well-received but I'm looking for some ideas of other things that I can do to *show* her that she is special to me (even 'just' as a dear, close friend) - it's the old 'actions speak louder than words' thing - but my imagination has deserted me(!)

One of the difficulties is that she is not very romantic and is not sentimental at all, which is completely opposite to me, so things that I would consider 'meaningful' have almost no significance to her.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

How to show her she's special to me?
Well, since she has expressed there won't be a girlfriend/boyfriend thing ever happening I would just continue as you are. She obviously considers you a dear friend since you chat to each other etc - going overboard with the gifts etc may scare her off you.
Reply:fly to visit her

How often does your GUY bring you flowers?

Does he ever bring flowers already arranged in a vase?

How often does your GUY bring you flowers?
I need to bring my gf flowers more....... Actually we have a farmers market today, so i'm gonna actually buy her some with that great idea of yours.

Do you know how happy you just made her??!! THANKS!!!
Reply:My man has never given me flowers. :(
Reply:One of the first things discussed when we got married was that I want him to NEVER bring me flowers. He did a couple times when we were dating and that came to an end when I told WHY I don't want flowers.

They simply die and the money spent on them was not worth their pleasure. I prefer he add more money to an investment account or give me something I can use such a some kitchen appliance that will be used daily. I know some women who would smack their man if they bought them an appliance of some sort but I want things that are practical and worth their money being spent OR I want things that will make themselves more money like investments.

: )
Reply:My ex had flowers delivered to me twice..... I got the bill the next day.... lol How romantic lol........

Now my new husband has either had them delivered or brought them to me im guessing 30-50 times in the past year......

And never wants anything in return, just hands them to me and tells me im a great mom, or im pretty, or his queen....... Id be happy with once a year though.....
Reply:Sometimes on special occasions, you know, my birthday....etc.

If your guy doesn't then maybe tell him how much you love flowers.

He'll probably catch on.
Reply:I ask my husband to not buy me flowers. They only die and the money is gone. There are other ways to show me that he loves me that will last forever and will mean more than giving me flowers that will die.
Reply:If you give him hints that you like flowers....than he should give you flowers once in a while.....whenever he feels close to you and happy...or for special ocasions...My bf...just came home one day from grocery...holding a pot with flowers...It sure made my day !

Are you donating flowers (bouquets, centerpieces, etc) to a local nursing home after the wedding?

If so, how did you go about arranging that? Did your day-of-coordinator take care of it?

Are you donating flowers (bouquets, centerpieces, etc) to a local nursing home after the wedding?
Oh my.....I would have NEVER thought of doing that! After my daughter's wedding, we had so many bouquets and flowers and they just ended up on my table until they died! Wow...that is a good suggestion for others getting married.

Yes, you could possibly ask your day-of-coordinator to help you with this. Or, a family member.

Great idea!
Reply:oh wow i never heard of that that's a great idea!! i'm going to do that for my wedding, contact a nursing home, and ask for the event coordinator. They usually take care of those things. I donated games to the nursing home and the event coordinator was the one that arranged everything
Reply:all four of our children did donate their flowers to both the nursing home and the hospice. they were all so pleased and grateful to be thought of! we also sent along the food that had not been touched to the gospel mission down the road which they put to good use.
Reply:Call around...most nursing homes will actually come pick up your flowers after the ceremony!
Reply:Residents always asked "Who died " when the flowers were donated.
Reply:What a beautiful idea!
Reply:No. In my family the flowers are always taken to the graves of those we have loved and lost.
Reply:Excellent idea! We hadn't thought of that, but I'm going to run it by the g/f, and I'm pretty sure she'll agree. Thanks!

Cheers
Reply:we did that after my dads funeral and we just called and offer them.

Home delivered orchid stems?

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had any success with having orchid stems delivered to your house and could recommend someone.

I'm in the UK and want them for my wedding bouquet (for someone to then arrange them) but I am worried about the reliability of them because I don't want to be doing a last minute run to Tesco's for some flowers the day before my wedding!

Home delivered orchid stems?
You can have any flowers you wish delivered to to your house. It would be best that they be delivered the day before the wedding in order that the someone could have time to make the bouquet. They need to be put in the fridge or a very cool place in order that the blooms do not spoil overnight.

Any other brides having horrible wedding nightmares?

I have had some crazy ones lately! I had a dream that the florist dropped off the flowers at my house the day before the wedding (and I mean just the flowers, not arranged or anything) and told me her son was sick and I would have to do my own flowers. I had a nightmare that my Aunt who is doing my hair for the wedding (she is a stylist for a living...been cutting my hair forever) didn't show up and I had to do my own hair....and more of the sort... I know its just wedding stress, Im not to worried, but I wake up and I'm like ok whats up with me!? So, to all you brides out there-are you having crazy nightmares? If so tell me about them, lets laugh at how crazy we are becoming! :)

Any other brides having horrible wedding nightmares?
My wedding isn't until June 21, 2008 and already I've dreamt:

1. My hairstyle is HORRID

2. My makeup makes me look whoreish.

3. People get lost coming to the event hall.

4. EVERYONE RSVP's with a "no"

5. Half RSVP "no" and show up anyway.

6. Most RSVP "yes" and don't show and don't bother calling.

7. Our car gets stolen the day of the wedding.

8. A hurricane washes out the location of the event hall the day before to the day after the wedding date.

9. People interpret "comfortable beach wear" to be thongs and speedos (planning on a beach wedding). I really don't want to see our relatives in thongs and speedos!

So many little flashes of nightmares. That's the ones I remember!
Reply:I didn't have any nightmares before my wedding, but my friends had plenty of them for me! Of course they didn't tell me about them until after the wedding so I wouldn't freak out. :)
Reply:O yeah, don't worrie, you make crazy dream because you are so happy.

Enjoy everything and don't worrie about dream, live them alone
Reply:So far, i only had one crazy dream. I dreamed that five minutes before the ceremony was to begin, the groom was not at the alter. He was late and I had to stand at the altar and watch him walk down the aisle. I woke up and laughed so hard! Lately, I do not dsream as much as I am so tired from planning a wedding and working at the same time.

Say a prayer for us brides. We need it.
Reply:YES! We just bought a house and are fixing it up... we want to have most of the work done before we are married. I keep having these horrible dreams that after we are married, he sells the house and we move to this horrible places. One was a flat in Japan and it was in a really bad neighborhood and then another one was a gaint haunted house... and then another one was a run down hotel!! I am from Philly- so the Japan one is a real stretch!! I guess it just our minds trying to resolve the stress in our sleep!!
Reply:I think this is pretty normal,I know when my sister got married 6mths ago,Like two weeks before the wedding she didn't sleep much at all she would wake up yelling at everyone at the wedding,There is a lot of pressure on the bride and she does all the work for the wedding while the soon to be husband sits back and waits for his bachelor party. So I would suggest to you to try and clear your mind before bed,I know that is hard to do,Maybe take a relaxing bath and if you like herbal tea drink a warm glass before bed,or a glass of wine,It might help.
Reply:Yes,its hilarious, I keep dreaming that my wedding is the next day and nothing is ready and my dress doesn't fit. Or that I woke up late and had no time to get ready so I end up getting married in jeans(which is beyond silly, given that my wedding is at 5pm). I've also dreamed different variations of the following: that the store changed my dress and instead of white it is gold with an awful black sash around the middle, or that my mom showed the dress to my boyfriend and I was enraged.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one going nuts.
Reply:You're not the only one! I've been having those dreams since I got engaged last year. They always center around the dress....it doesn't fit,,,,it's horribly ugly...the store closes and I can't get the dress...and a million variations there of. It's becoming more frequent now actually, since I still haven't picked a dress and I'm getting married in July! It's just all of our "keeping it calm and cool" exteriors letting our true "oh my God I'm getting MARRIED!!" neurosis coming out to play in our dreams
Reply:Oh my gosh yes! I don't know why this is...I've had weirdo wedding dreams all my life and in all of them stuff goes horribly wrong. And it's not like i'm nervous or don't want to get married either. I think it's just a normal thing that we brides go through. I've had some REALLY funny ones. I had one this week actually. I have about 4 months until my wedding (April 21) but in my dream the wedding was this week and i hadn't gotten anything done except for what i've really gotten done now 4 months before. So in my dream the wedding was that day and i hadn't gotten the menu worked out with my catorer or my dress fitted and lots of other stuff and i was freaking OUT! Just enjoy the laughs and don't take the dreams literally! (I hope all of these dreams don't make me parinoid on the actual day though. I don't want to be nervous or stress about the little stuff)

Is it true that Donald Trump is doing a "Charm School" type show?

Late last night I could have sworn that on The Soup they said that Trump was going to do, yet another, rip off show of Ladette To Lady. I don't know if Joel McHale was joking around or if it's a real show in the making.

FYI, Ladette To Lady is a British show that airs on the Sundance channel in the US and is already going into it's 3rd season. It takes place at a REAL finishing school with REAL teachers and REAL finishing school classes (e.g. flower arranging, cooking, sewing, elocution, etiquette, public speaking, etc.).

P.S. If Trump IS doing a copycat show, I'm totally watching it. LOL! I'm only human.

Is it true that Donald Trump is doing a "Charm School" type show?
He is currently in talks and planning with Fox for a show, tentatively called "Lady or a Tramp," which will take party girls and send them through a crash charm school course.

Can you help me with Religious Studies Work?

Hi, I need help on this please.

'Women have a lot more to offer the Church than flower arranging and cleaning brass. It's important that the Church puts women's God-given gifts to good use. It needs them!'.' Rachel, a lay Anglican woman.

Rachel is the name of the person and the quote is what she said. What I have to do is write a letter, explaining why you think their position is wrong. You should deal with their arguments as well as presenting opposing ones. Letter doesn't have to be very long. Thank You Very Much For Your Help!

Can you help me with Religious Studies Work?
I believe this assignment to be a croc of ****.

because in education it is important to understand that students must be able to take and think through various postulates. Not only thinking that it was wrong, but that it could also be right. It is as if their saying that to say that is wrong, like a fact. Yes it states to include opposing views, but what kind of opposing views can you conclude when the assignment says it has to be wrong. Totally not educational at all. Especially in this century.

Nonetheless i will help you...

To whom it may concern:

It is unquestionable to believe that women posess their right in church. Women are subservient to men and therefore are not worthy of god. Only men can commune and have visions and be mytics, and politicians. because God is a man. And so, woman was created from man and woman sinned first. Therefore she deserves punishment and seclusion. Only as nuns, but they could never be clergywomen. What an insult what a disgrace, to Jesus the Christ. ( Who in fact defended women and was seen to heal and respect them)

Amen to all,

Bishop Byzantine the Great...

If god is the alpha and the omega dont you think the alpha and the omega includes women as well since its everything.

Her sex tempted him to eat too, therefore she is more driven to evil.

Men and Women as equals both decided to sin, and both fell from Eden how come one earns more than the other.

Women are capable of excersicing great leadership and they are definitely more devoted that could help in the relationship with god. However men and women equally can be both devoted and great.. they are part of each other and united...then why cant they share the church..?

etc, you must get the idea by now... i cant believe they give you these kinds of assignments its unbelievable .. anyways hope it gives you ideas to do the assignment.... good luck..

Then form your own opinion, and write that down.

Good luck on your Homework.

Peace
Reply:WRONG!!!! She couldn't be more right.
Reply:While it's not specifically stated, it's inferred that the author of the statement seems to think that flower arranging and cleaning brass are God-given gifts ONLY to women. It's a very sexist remark. I'd be more inclined to think that Rachel was really Ray, or that it was written in the 40s or 50s and needs to be updated. The "gifts" are also related to material-ness and not spiritual-ness.

Once again...a big waste of time (and money) on the freaking church.
Reply:That's EASY!!!

Do your own work.
Reply:I graduated from school and university- y' know how?

By doing my own homework!

but anyway, here's a suggestion. This is a difficult task because it asks you to go against the way most of us think. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who thinks that women *don't* have alot to offer the church and think about why that might be. Or you could go really left field and argue that Rachel is, by her comments, trivializing the role of women in the church- try that one if you dare :)

now go on, engage your brain and get an A+

Anyone have advice for fall wedding flowers?

I'd like to use real flowers, mostly. My main color right now is a wine/burgundy color but I am open to using other colors in my arrangements. I'm not sure what flowers are in season at that time. I don't want to spend a large amount of $ on flowers and am not afraid of keeping arrangements simple. I just need suggestions on flowers, colors and ways I should consider arranging them.

Thanks!!

Anyone have advice for fall wedding flowers?
I've listed the most beautiful wine/burgandy combinations below that I could find. Don't avoid roses just because you think they'll be expensive. You can always mix them with other colors and you won't know how much they will cost until you have them priced. Many times, roses are at a good value in the fall. Mums of all sorts are generally at a good price in the fall.

Hope this helps - congrats %26amp; good luck!
Reply:I would go with freesia. They come A LOT of colors, they're beautiful and they smell incredible. I had midnight blue freesia, with grape ivy and baby's breath in my bouquet.
Reply:roses and tulips are always in season for weddings but also sunflowers, pumpkins, gourds, and fall leaves
Reply:I've arranged flowers for many weddings over the years. Now is the time to go to whomever will be flower arranging and ask what will be available in your area. Many flowers are available year round like roses, carnations, and mums. If at all possible, go to your local florist wholesale and ask to see their selection and also what will be in for fall. I've brought brides and their moms with me to our wholesaler to look at fresh flowers. Seeing in person is different and better than looking at a picture.

Note: All dark colors tend to fade to black in pictures unless there is very good lighting. I'd pick a vibrant color before a very dark one for girls to wear. A great color for all skin tones is a coral, peach or any pink/orange blend. All colors of flowers tend to pop when placed against this color family especially darker hues.

I'd use wine as an accent color with silver, shades of pink, and a light shade of green. Throw in some vibrant blue and orange for drama. Blue delphiniums, yellow/orange sunflowers, cream roses, pink carnations, green bells of Ireland and/or assortment of green leafy stems/ bean stems. Use burgandy and silver ribbon.

Reply:I would go with Mums.. they are beautiful, hardy (you can plant them in the yard afterward) and come in a variety of colors including burgandy. They are relatively cheap too.
Reply:I had a fall wedding, and I decided that my bridesmaids would be as colorful as the flower arrangement. I chose basic fall colors (brown, plum, red, navy blue, but no orange) and let the girls pick out their own dress as long as they got it in one of the colors (all the dresses were long so they looked uniform). Then I chose a different flower for each dress, one that complimented that particular dress. It was a little more complicated than ordering a number of one specific flower, but the girls were able to buy a dress they felt pretty in and could wear again, and each small bouquet complimented their choices. Grouped together beside me, they were more beautiful than a room full of flowers (plus I saved ALOT on the flower choices). Hope this helped.
Reply:We had dark purple dresses and used flowers that were dark purple, yellow, orange and peach. Sounds like a strange combination but it looked really nice. Our florist used some fake fall leaves in the bouquets and some dark green ferns. There were also some of those miniture sunflowers, which are not expensive but definitely fit the part for a Fall wedding. For the tables we had the same flower combinations in hollowed out pumpkins and also tea light in hollowed out mini pumpkins. And also on the tables we used some fake glittery leaves that we found at walmart for very cheap. But they looked really nice!
Reply:I am getting married in July and have been looking for some great colors also for Burgundy/claret...I have seen Burgundy paired with chocolate brown, burnt orange, and gold...very striking for a fall wedding.

My sister used Burgundy, hunter green, and ivory for her wedding. Beautiful pictures!!

Also, I have seen in the wed books that different shades of a color-Burgundy- light to dark- make a very elegant wedding.

Hope it helps!

My valentine roses lasted 4 days, a tied arrangement, is this normal.?

Hi, my husband ordered a dozen red roses to be delivered on valentines day. The first one to die or go over was the next day and now 4 days on almost half have gone over. As you can tell, I don't get delivered flowers very often, but is 4 days rather short for professionally arranged roses.

My valentine roses lasted 4 days, a tied arrangement, is this normal.?
that is about average if you did not recut the stems and change the water every day. that is something they sometimes forget to tell because the florist is so busy that time of year.
Reply:it depends on many factors,

if they were well watered

used aquaplus flowerfood, i

f they were premium fresh roses

how long the company hand them before

if your roses were wired,

if they were kept out of heat and direct sunlight.

roses aren't typically know to be a long lasting flower. premium long stem roses from equidor can last up to two weeks.

I really hope you enjoyed your flowers it truly is one of the best gift to recive ever!
Reply:That was so sweet of your hubby. It is sad when that happens to roses, and, unfortunately, it's the worst on Valentine's Day. That's because they are shipped early to the shops so the shops have time to do the orders, etc. One thing to do to help them last a bit longer is to recut the end stems of the roses--take a utility scissors and at an angle, make a new cut. Also, replace the water in the vase every other days. I keep all of my roses by drying them. I cut off the blossoms and put them in a flat glass bowl and air dry them. You can use them as potpourri (add some essence) or just display them in a crystal bowl .
Reply:Yes! it is,but if you can get them out of the water if you still have them.

Tie upside down in a very warm room in the house...maybe close to a dryer, or hot water heater or even a warm room.

Leave for 2 weeks....and 'maybe' just ,maybe you can still keep some of them...as a reminder how hubby was thinking of you.

Now when you have them dryed...pick out say 4-5 of the best or even more! and take a nice frame.Remove the glass, and just stick them on carboard in side the frame....don't replace the glass....and for a yr....they should look sweet!

Cut off stems...to fit the frame .Your roses will then remain in your heart a little longer! :)
Reply:Yes and no. I have seen it happen both ways. It is according to the shop and how they handle their merchandise. But cut flowers do not live long.

Congratulations on receiving roses.
Reply:Cut flowers espesially roses do not last long. 5 or 6 days would be the maximum for roses. But they should at least all last a few days.

Does god get embarrassed?

When he sees the answers his "followers" give. Even with a question about flower arranging and some bible basher will still give a "holy" reply - mostly copied %26amp; pasted !

Does god get embarrassed?
Cut that out... I'm no copy and paster merchant, got my own abilities.

I would be embarrassed by men's antics, if I'd created them, wouldn't you?

lifelong Christian, without the bashing!
Reply:1. God (capital "G") does not get embarrassed. He may be disappointed in the actions of most people, but He has constant hope and love for all of us.

2. How does a "bible basher" give a '"holy"' reply? They would more likely give a secular response as they do not adhere to the script in the Bible.

3. Don't let the actions of avowed '"followers"' cause you to disbelieve in the power and love of God. Just because there are priests that are pedophiles does not mean the message is wrong. Just because one person cheats does not mean all people cheat.

How to arrange flowers in a cone-shaped rattan standing vase?

I have a cone-shaped rattan standing vase and I need help on how to arrange plastic flowers in them. What should I use to make the flowers stand upright as most foam are squarish? HELP!!

How to arrange flowers in a cone-shaped rattan standing vase?
You can cut the foam with a knife to fit in the vase or use marbles, dried beans or something like that.
Reply:This is where the old fashioned glass "frog" comes into play. It is a circular shape of glass with holes through it. You would put this down into the cone until it fits firmly, then poke the flower stems into the holes.

Hope you can find one. If not, try to find a cone shaped foam piece. Seems I see them in the craft areas of Wal-Mart type stores %26amp; in Hobby Lobby craft centers.

Good luck, the vase sounds lovely!

Is there ANYWHERE I can buy (cheap) just a few flowers so I can arrange them myself?

I usually arrange about 15 medium vases and 5 large vases per week. I want the wholesale price, because I'll be a regular customer, without the huge quantity. I'm a one-lady charity service (I give the flowers away to sick %26amp; forgotten). I live in Dallas, though I'd love to order over the internet...I order my supplies that way...

Is there ANYWHERE I can buy (cheap) just a few flowers so I can arrange them myself?
You could speak with the florist near you and ask if you can piggy-back on his order. Once you explain what you are doing, I'm sure you can make arrangements.

I doubt there are any internet suppliers for small orders. See the searchlist below for your local wholesale dealers. Choose the one that is best for you.

Women's tactics are more advanced than the men's game IMO.

Reply:The one thing about women's sports to watch is that they are text book players. Men like to freelance. Women play by the rules and in form. It's great for teaching kids how to play. I play (men's league) and coach.
Reply:You are going to end up cooking your own meals and arranging your own flowers pretty soon...

Men and their egos...
Reply:Here in the states, women's football far outweighs the men's. Most of our male athletes are overpaid and underworked, whereas our female athletes have a true passion for the sport. The are not only technically savy, but very aggressive. The only thing that holds them back from the men are more stringent rules on contact. (Actually my high school coach made us chant over and over how Soccer (Football) is a contact sport, and then proceed to teach as how to legally tackle our opponent.) It is a shame that the WUSA didn't last but a few seasons. Mia Hamm (enough said).

Theory of garden arrangement?

I'm interested in arranging our garden and would like to know where to find a simple book or online guide to design perennial flower beds, shrubs etc in an aesthetically pleasing manner. What can I do for a grieving family to provide comfort?

I know the obvious like being with them and providing encouraging words, celebrating the life of the deceased, and providing food and flowers. I am very blessed to never have had the loss of an immediate family member. Last night my pastor and her husband found their youngest son dead (at 30 he was my age), she is always the one that comforts everyone else, and I just want to do something special for them. Our church is arranging food and sorts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do for a grieving family to provide comfort?
offer them help with their yard, or around the house. or maybe a massage gift certificate?

get some family /friends who have some good pictures and make them a photobook .. that would be nice.

sorry about their loss :(
Reply:Tivo thier favorite programs so they won't miss them. It's the little things that count.
Reply:Listen to her/them, no matter what they want to talk about.

Make time for them, when they feel the need.

If they have relatives coming in for the services, offer your home for babysitting or (if you feel comfortable) guests to stay over.

These gestures will be VERY appreciated and will last in their memories long after the cakes are eaten and the flowers have wilted.

What a kind and considerate friend you are!
Reply:One of the best things you can do is bring them food. People that are grieving normally do not want to leave the house to go get anything. By bringing the food and desserts you will ease their minds of worrying about another thing.
Reply:You can remind him that the nature of the soul is immortal and his time was up by God's will in his present human body. We all have a mission to accomplish while on earth, so his was for thirty years.
Reply:Everyone will comfort them this year. It would be really nice if you could write the date of his death on your calender and send them a card or food on the anniversary of his death for next year. And even put flowers on his grave so when they go by a year from now, that they are reminded someone remembered.
Reply:Take em food and give em mutual support and find out if they might need some cash to cover funeral expensives i used to work at a large Cemetary and i know funerals aint cheap by know means
Reply:Wow, Wide Awake answered that great. I would go with his suggestions plus, as someone who has lost a great deal of family members, I would let them know that you are willing to do all those things, and that you will wait for them to contact you. I loved that everyone was there for me, but it was very overwhelming to have people stopping by or calling all the time.

My sympathies to you.

Good luck.
Reply:In addition to Wide Awakes terrific answer, I would add the following: My mother often house sits during the funeral services because a lot of robberies occur during these times. ( People can be so cruel), and the mourners very much appreciate this. Also, I say don't say much, but listen a lot. Sorry for your loss.
Reply:What have you witnessed her do in a similar situation???

I would say that as long as you express your sympathy's and really listen to her if she decides to speak of it...I think that would be enough.

Did the young man have a wife or children?? If so maybe you could start a fundraiser in his name to help the widow or to set up a college fund for his children.

Keep in mind...if you do offer to be there for them in any way...do not be offended if they do not ask for help. It is common for grieving people to not take up on the offers of others.

Make sure they receive a healthy amount of privacy....encourage all you know to send their condolences..but keep in mind that they are suffering through an exhausting ordeal..as new as it is...they will soon need some quiet time to heal!!

My sympathy to the family.

When planning a funeral service, what flowers need to be bought by the family?

I understand a casket spray needs to be arranged, but what about flowers for the mother, the brothers, etc.?

For my grandma's funeral in Dec. we bought the casket arrangement only. I've never heard of giving flowers to the surviving relatives.

I am so sorry for you loss. Please know that my prayers are with you and your family. As for the floral arrangements, just tell the florist what is going on and they will help you decide what is best. The two hearts together is a beautiful idea.

I need help identifying a Maude Goodman painting. It is from 1892 or 94 I cannot make it out.?

The main characters are 4 females three of which are sitting around a table arranging flowers.. 2 are very young, and 1 is teenage. The fourth is possibly the mother or older sister and has been collecting flowers in her apron. I would like to find out what the name is and if it is worth keeping or discarding. Thanks

Enter whatever you have into an arts search engine like www.absolutearts.com or wwar.com

Enter the name, year, medium, size, subject matter...whatever you have to work with and see what comes up. The sites have a lot of living artists as well as dead artists. if the artist is dead, you might get a dealer or gallery come up that deals with the artist estate.

How do I make a complaint of a purchase I made. Flower Expo sent the wrong colors and flowers to a funeral?

I went to Flower Expo and ordered a bouquet for a funeral. I specified the colors I wanted and also the flowers even the ribbon to be placed on it. I asked for blue flowers and specified carnations white in color and the tips dyed blue with palms in the back ground. The owner showed me some flowers he had but I said no because they were not blue they were purple. He assured me he knew exactly what I would like and he would arrange them himself. When I paid for them I also paid delivery for this memorial gave the address to be delivered to got a reciept and left. Well to make my point I was so devestated when I got to the memorial the whole arrangement was with pink roses orange orchids and the flowers I told him were not blue. He refuses to give me a refund and says I should of took them back how many people do you know of that would carry away flowers meant for the dead and tell the family I HAD TO TAKE THEM BACK. Since he refuses to give you a refund report his company to the Better Business Bureau.
Reply:If you paid with a credit card you can dispute the charges with your credit card company. You may not get anywhere but at least you will cause him some inconvience. It's worth a shot, at worst you can delay payment for a few months.

What can I have delivered to a hospital that isn't food, wine or flowers?!?

My grandfather is in a hospital that doesn't allow flowers, and he is too sick for food/drink gifts.

He lives in another country so I'd like to arrange something to be delivered since I can't visit in person, but I can't think of anything. I would send a car but it would take too long in the mail.

Reply:Card and photoframe with a personal note. But visiting him yourself would mean more to him.

you could make a tape of his favourite music
Reply:A Vermont Teddy Bear. And I believe you can customize one, too! They are top quality teddy bears and sometimes come with other little gifts. Check out the internet as I'm sure they have a website, just type vermont teddy bear in the search engine. This way he'll have something special to look at that reminds him of you, and depends on how sick he is he can even cuddle with it! :)
Reply:I'm sure you could find a specialty store that could deliver a gift basket of nice items...maybe a book or some magazines (if he can't read for himself, some hospitals have people who volunteer to read to patients), some unscented lotion for his hands or face (hospital air can be drying to the skin). A personalized letter is nice, and some basic necessities, like toothbrush, shampoo, and the like are good because the kinds they have in hospitals are not usually really what most people would pick for themselves. If he likes music, and is able to work with current technologies (or if someone is there who can help him), a personal music player or mp3 player loaded with his type of music would be good, with headphones so he can listen without disturbing other patients.

It's nice that you're thinking of him...the best gift is to let him know that you care!
Reply:Sorry your grandfather is ill Princess.

Could you try to speak to him. You could call the hospital and tell them you live far away and they might be able to arrange for you to have a few words, to let him know you love him and are thinking of him.

God bless both of you xx.
Reply:Pictures of you %26amp; your family and lots %26amp; lots of cards. Doing my own wedding flowers any ideas?

I am getting married in September and want to save money by doing my own flowers. Do you know of any good web sites or stores to order bulk flowers from? Any ideas or tips on how to arrange flowers and which ones are the most hardy? My colors are white and blue with a few pink accents.

Doing my own wedding flowers any ideas?
You can try places like Costco or Sam's Club. I have heard some good things about flowers from there.

Are you planning on doing just the bouquets or are you centerpieces floral as well? If you are going to do just the bouquets I would say your best option would be to go to Safeway (or if you have it in your area a wholesale flowermart). You can pick up a nice bouquet for a fairly good price. Michaels has a lot of supplies for putting the bouquet together...I believe they also offer classes. Just make sure that you do a few practice bouquets. The last thing that you want is to be struggling the morning of the wedding. Sometimes creating what you want can be more difficult then you think...I know I've learned my lesson about that.
Reply:I did my own flowers and they turned out great. I would highly recommend www.theflowerexchange.com to buy your flowers. Mine arrived on time, in great condition, and they lasted over 2 weeks. I was so pleased with the flowers that I ordered a bunch more for Thanksgiving. Again, I was very impressed. As for tips, I used this website (http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.ht... which gave great tips.

Congrats and good luck!
Reply:I would ask your local florist if they can sell to you wholesale. They will have the freshest flowers and get them on time. Aslo here is a site I like to use for decorating my events. www.BeeBows.Net Hope this has helped. Good Luck!
Reply:My sister in law helped me out with the flowers. We got our fake at like Target. They turned out to be really nice.
Reply:I dont know if your florist could do this, but it is worth asking. I got married last march and the florist told me that to do a flower arrangement would be 60 dollars but if I went and bought my own flower they would only charge me 10 dollars. But I also had fake flowers Craft stores have lots of different flower to choose from too, good luck
Reply:i do not know if you have considered silk flowers, which are waaaay cheaper than real ones, but here is the site i brought mine from and i am getting married may 18th of 2008 and everything is planned and done for under 10k. good luck. www.csilkc.com they have pictures of previos real brides with their own unique creations. hope this helps.
Reply:Check out Samsclub.com or Costco.com.

I am doing my own flowers as well, and I am going to get my roses from Sams Club. I checked them out in the store to see their quality and they are really nice.
Reply:WHen I was thinking about doing my own flowers this is where I was going to buy them through but I found Safeway! I know it sounds wierd but grocery stores have florist and they tend to run about the third of the price of a florist shop!!! Every florist in town qouted me like 800- 1000 for my flowers because I wanted lilies. Safeway I am only paying 350! And that is for 3 bouquets, 12 boutineers, 3 mom's corsages and 3 grandmas wristlets! Plus it will save you the stress of doing your own! I helped with my brothers and man was it stress ful!!!

Reply:Depends if you want real or fake.

I bought mine and Michaels and put them together myself (well i will). They are silk

I am spending about 60$ for 3 bouquets
Reply:Like someone else mentioned I got mine through a grocery store florist. We used Albertson's. They were really cheap and I didn't have to worry about anything except for making the order and arranging someone to pick them up. As a bonus, roses (I used roses) were on sale the week of my wedding so they were even cheaper than they would have been.

It is a good way to go because I don't think that you could make them much cheaper and it saves you a lot of headache.

Has anyone bought flowers in the NYC flower District before?

I was thinking on heading to the flower distric in New York to buy a bunch of flowers for mothers day. I have a couple of aunts to whom i like to arrange my own small arrangements.

But that is 8 aunts and every year this tradition becomes more expensive.

Is it worth my while going there?

If you have done this, what prices should i expect to find?

I know they will probably be a little more expensive since it is mother s days.

Also i don't have a particular flower in mind, it can easily be a bunch of different flowers. I plan on going down there saturday, i don't know if this will make a difference.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Has anyone bought flowers in the NYC flower District before?
I don't believe going there to spending the extra money. The prices are marked up to the cost of their rent and not the quality of their flowers.

How much does each hydrangea stem usually cost?

I want my centerpieces to have about three hydrangeas and when I went to the LA Flower Marker I found white hydrangea bunches for about $6 but colored hydrangeas (pink and purple) for about $12. Each bunch was about 4-5 stems, so for white hydrangeas it averages to $1.50-$2 and colored for $3-$3.50 per stem. Is this right? I was looking into having a florist arrange 3 hydrangeas and 6 roses in vases that i have botten (rose Im sure are cheaper around $1.00-$1.50 per stem). They said it would be $35-$40 isnt this way too much, I understand labor cost but are they totally ripping me off or is this how much it will cost? I would think as florist they would even get flowers even cheaper since they buy by bulk right? I am totally wrong by asking them to do it for at least $25-$30?

How much does each hydrangea stem usually cost?
See if you can get a florist that works from home? I did that and got great centerpieces for about $60 total cost.. I did however, bring my own containers...I got married in Las Vegas and brought home the buckets from each casino and had arrangements in those.. My guests took everything home ! Which is something you can do as well.. Instead of renting containers.. Then guests can take the whole arrangement home ! good luck
Reply:average cost is between 3 and 8 dollars each
Reply:No, I think you are totally right. I mean labor is something to consider but it just sounds like they are totally just trying to get more money. If I were you I would insist on them lowering their prices or just find a florist who would do it for cheaper. Don't get defeated just keep trying!

What are the rules of thumbs for hanging paintings/pictures in a living room?

I have lived in my apt for almost 5 years and didn't have anything on the walls except my daughter's picture.

I recently bought a nice large painting (beige w/some kind of white flowers) and also 4 small paitings of a red tulip at ikea.

I arranged the 4 tulip paitings 2 on top and 2 on bottom in the center of my main couch. I don't know if my other one matches. I have no clue as to what I should and shouldn't do w/wall decor! Please help.

What are the rules of thumbs for hanging paintings/pictures in a living room?
The wall space your pictures take up should be about 3/4 of the length of your couch. When hanging just one picture, make sure it is at eye level and not too far up the wall.

Your pictures don't technically have to match, but they do have a running "flower" theme. Good luck!
Reply:Ordinary drywall cans safety hold a lightweight artwork hung from a nail; heavier objects require different anchors. Put down the putty and poster tacks, that's no way to hang a gorgeous mirror or framed artwork.
Reply:I would suggest hanging the large painting centered above the couch. The 4 tulip paintings might be better in the hallway, entrace area or master bedroo.
Reply:odd numbered groupings are best.

I would hang the big pic on the wall above

the couch and on a wall across from it or next to it the others. watch hgtv for clues.
Reply:I would really suggest that you get some friends over to check out the room. It's really difficult to know without seeing it, though I'm sure some people will give you some ideas. It's just that seeing the real space is pretty important in this case. I'm sure you know some people who you believe to have nicely decorated homes. Get them over to check it out.
Reply:The simplest rule of thumb on hanging items on the wall is to place items in groups of three, simply put, that is the most artistic arrangement.

The other thing I have tried in the past (when stuck as to how to arrange a grouping on the wall) is to trace all the items on tissue paper and then tape the tracings to the wall. Then you'll get a feeling of how they will look before you make holes in the wall!

It doesn't hurt to ask for someone else's opinions either...and make sure you mount the focal point picture at eye-level, you shouldn't have to strain your eyes to see your arrangement.
Reply:the rule of thumb is 'scale' ...small artwork on a large space can indicate the person has a fear of decorating with large items.. if the space is large you can get a few substantial sized pieces to fill in the space
Reply:You will find that not all people think the same way. Without seeing your room and the pictures, it is hard to give advice. However, I would hang the largest one centered about the couch or if you have one a fireplace. You can group the 4 smaller ones off to the side, but i would only do this if i had something about the same size as the 4 to place on the other side of the couch. Not really sure how big your walls are, or how high.

A tip to try is get a package of STRAIGHT PINS from Wal-Marts sewing area, and put them in the wall, instead of nails. If you get them in deep enough you will be shocked as to how much weight they hold. you can then not leave holes in walls, and you can change out the display till YOUR happy with the looks.

And remember, regardless of all the advice you are given, in the end it will be your decision that will make you HAPPY to have your pictures in an arrangement that YOU like, not anyone else.

Falling flowers!!?

I'm new at arranging flowers, and I use the green wet sponges in the vase to secure my flowers in place. Problem: If my flowers are too heavy (like lilies) or I've changed my mind about the placement of other flowers (made holes that are now empty) the sponge literally disintigrates. Of course, this ruins the arrangement when my flowers fall all over the place and I end up starting all over. Isn't there a better way to hold my flowers up in wet bricks?

P.S. I give 90% of my creations away. Frogs are too expensive to give away.

Falling flowers!!?
Could you use smaller (shorter) vases so the stems are shorter and require less support??

Visit your local Hobby Lobby or Micheal's for other ideas....
Reply:try using clay if they are fake if theyre real try using a foam. Michaels has plenty to choose from for flower arrangements.

Looking for Water Lilies or lotus?

I am desperate looking for "Nymphaea" AKA watter lilies, i would even set up for lotus.

I need to find a florist that can arrange a bouquete of this flowers, and ship it to manhattan, kansas i will pay anything for it. i have being trough several sites but i have only found dead ends. please help me.

Looking for Water Lilies or lotus?
Given enough notice, a florist can arrange to have almost anything made and delivered on time. Best advice is to talk to your local florist for options and prices.

Good luck with your problem.
Reply:THEY HAVE THEM AT THE AGWAY STORE IN PUGHTOWN PENNSYLVANIA AGWAY FARMSTORE ON RT 100 THE PHONE NUMBER IS 610 469 9238 THEY HAVE THEM FLOATING IN THE FOUNTAIN ON DISPLAY....MAYBE THEY CAN GIVE YOU THE COMPANY THAT SUPPLIES THEM...GOOD LUCK
Reply:Speaking as a florist, your request is something that is just not possible. As an alternative, you could try a silk water lily, and use fresh greenery and babies breath....the look would be accomplished and I believe that you would be very happy with the results.

lotus again in March 2007.

We do have ready for shipping, Water Lilies.

Mine have never lasted more than a day, so it certainly wouldn't be profitable for a florist to handle

you could order a plant ready to be put into water

What is the cheapest way to buy real flowers for an outdoor wedding in July in Tennessee?

I mean CHEAP. Very tight budget. We can arrange them ourselves... my sister is GREAT at arranging flowers. Any ideas appreciated.

:)

What is the cheapest way to buy real flowers for an outdoor wedding in July in Tennessee?
talk with any friends or relatives that garden and ask if you can pick a few of their flowers before the big day ...

if no one around you has a green thumb, ask a florist around you if she would consider giving you a deal - usually florists charge anywheres from double to triple the cost of the flowers, so ask them if they would be willing to sell the flowers in bulk and at a little more than cost.(talking about a lot of flowers, not a little of this or a little of that) - but make sure they know they wouldn't have to do anything to the flowers, they dont have to worry about cutting or perserving the flowers; all they would have to do is get them in...that way they might be more apt to giving you the deal...

i worked for a florist, and although she would never advertise that she did this, she would if the bride would ask...
Reply:http://www.onlinewholesaleflowers.com had very nice flowers for cheap....

that or go to your local florist and tell him to pick something cheap- most florists go out daily to get great deals on flowers and can get you great deals if you arent picky on what you want.
Reply:Why don't you just grow the flowers yourself, if you start now your flowers should be blooming by then?

If I had to replan my wedding, I would also pick wild flowers to try and be conservation.

Where you are having that wedding, get the Mr groom to do some roto tiller and grow some flowers out there.

I heard of this one guy planting flowers for his outdoor wedding. Yard sale for flower pots or make wooden ones.

Get someone to teach you flower drying and making flower arrangements wouldn't that be nice.

You can make a visit to the green house.
Reply:If you have a Costco wholesale store near you AND you or someone you know is willing to prepare the arrangement the day before the wedding...then this is a very "cheap" way to go.

My wedding date was Feb. 8th - very close to Valentine's Day - ALL the florists wanted to charge me two arms and two legs because "its the busiest time of the year"....

My future husband's cousin dabbled in flower arranging - she made me bouquets, and flower items for everyone in the wedding party.

If you have a Costco - go inside and check out their fresh "bulk" flowers - they have A HUGE selection of all different colored roses and other flowers too - also, they sell in bulk on their website.

We spent $200 for all flowers and flower arrangements.

TIP - if you do them yourself - I was told to put them in the fridge overnight -BUT - you must take out all food that gives off natural gases - like fruits and veggies (i think veggies) - they will wilt the flowers.
Reply:local farmers market or flea market usually carry flowers

Reply:Steal them from a park?
Reply:Try your local Walmart Supercenter. They have beautiful roses, lilys, etc... Really cheap. If you buy one store out then go to the next one. You can get a bouqet of really nice flowers for $3.88
Reply:Well if you know anybody with a huge garden you could offer to pay a minimal price to use their flowers and then invite them to the wedding as well. Try searching around online as well.
Reply:See if there is a local farmers market around or talk to one of the local florist and let them know that you just want loose flowers and alot of times they will give them to you just a little above cost.
Reply:check dumpsters at funeral homes.
Reply:Actually, I found that if you call around to the local florists they can give you what is called a GROOM'S PACKAGE. They will give you one set price for everything. I was able to get four bouquets, eight boutineers, 11 center pieces, and five coursages for like 150 bucks. Talk to them, I am pretty sure they will work something out for you. Good luck and hope this helps.
Reply:You ask everyone you know for their flowers out of their gardens. It'd be a great mixture and... cheap. Just a thought lol
Reply:pick them. that way you got FREE flowers. what could be any better?? lol

Flower arranging?

I would like to know how to perserve flowers and what flowers are longest lasting in an oasis bouqet. thanks and flower power.

Flower arranging?
most flowers that are "preservable" will do well if you take the entire bouquet out of the vase and turn it upside down. Then tie it together with string , wire, whatever you have, then hang it near a window for a week or so. They will dry beautifully this way and retain more of their color. Roses dry particularly well, but many other flowers do also.As far as your bouquet, just hang the entire bouquet and you will soon know what dries well and what doesn't. Simply remove any flowers that aren't drying well.
Reply:I use Silaca beads to preserve Zinna's and carnations and daisies, but I am not sure what type of flowers are in an oasis bouquet.

what to do

I have made a theraphy for special needy children with fresh flower. where to submit my idea?
Google "lesson plans" and then post your ideas to as many sites that will take it.
Reply:Send it to my email if you can. I will then submit it to our director.
Reply:Call your city's school district and make an appointment with the director of special education. You might offer to present your idea in the classroom as a volunteer. Lots of schools use volunteers in regular classrooms as well as in special ed rooms.

Keeping Flowers Alive Longer?

My fiance sent me some roses 2 days ago, and they are beautiful and i want to keep them alive as long as possible.... I've read that putting an asprin in with the water will help, however these flowers were arranged in a basket as opposed to a vase...

Any Tips? Thank you in advance :)

Keeping Flowers Alive Longer?
It's nice to see them in there basket but if you want them to live longer take them out and put fake flowers in the basket when you put the roses in a vase make sure you cut the stems on the botton at a 45 degree angle you can use your asprine but make sure you change the water every 2 days since allge builds up from the sun hitting the water every time you change the water cut the stems about 1/2 inche will do the allgy cloggs the stems up for whats it worth get rose food that will make them last longer but remember this once they bloom the next stage is death thats there cycle we all wish for longer life but thats not the case good luck and tell hubby hon I love them so much can you buy me more
Reply:I have an enclosed sun room that'salways cooler than the rest of the house. When I put a bouquest in there itstays fresh much longer than in any other room in the house. My advice is to keep them in a slightly cooler room.
Reply:They are probably inserted into a floral foam--If thats the case you will need to remove them and arrange them in a vase. It is true about the aspirin. Some other tips are: Changing the water everyday. Snip the ends of each stem when you change the water. At the end of the day, place them in the refrigerator. Hope this helps!!!
Reply:Putting them in the refrigerator at night might help.

How do I prolong the life of...?

florist flowers that can't be placed in water? They are roses %26amp; cala lillies but for my wedding reception we are using platters %26amp; arranging the flowes on that...there is no way to keep the flowers in water. How can I keep them looking fresh for the 4-6 hours during the reception?

How do I prolong the life of...?
keep them as cool as possible on ice if possible and have them spritzed with water by someone every once in a while. hope this helps; enjoy your wedding
Reply:You are supposed to use the water tubes and a refrigerator. The water keeps them hydrated and the refrigerator slows down the cellular breakdown that causes wilting.
Reply:Water tubes, oasis, wiring. I'd prefer the water tubes and oasis over wiring.

Can I get a flower critique?

Since I am on a tight budget, I am using silks and arranging them myself. We are renting a rather large wedding pole tent and the lighting will be dimmer than in the picture. I just wanted to see if I could get a helpful critique from the fantastic "wedding" community! Am I off to a good start? I obviously haven't done the final "tweaking" but I have 3 height variations that I am using and I have made one of each so far. (28", 20" %26amp; 8.5")

My colors are peach, pink, yellow and white. Also, I noticed that I forgot to tuck the mini-light strand battery box underneath the ivy for the picture. Once buried in ivy, it is completely hidden.)

If you can offer any helpful suggestions, I would appreciate it. I have never done flower arrangements before, so I need some insightful tips! Or if they look okay so far, I appreciate knowing that too.

If you plan to completely bash them-don't bother...move on to another question.

Can I get a flower critique?
Yes, they're pretty. Good work. My personal opinion would cause me to suggest that you use a white candle or a yellow one if it's going to be next to a pink flower, unless you can match the colors of the flower and the candle exactly. I don't think the peach and pink do well next to one another when they aren't the same item. Peach flowers next to pink ones look just fine, truly. With the candle, it doesn't carry over for some reason. I'm not even quite sure why; it just looks a little mismatched. Honestly, using all white candles would be simplest, because they could then be placed with any of the colored flowers. They would also glow nicely, if the lighting is going to be dim. I think you have good ideas for how to make things nice on a budget. Keep up the good work. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.
Reply:I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request. Their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/f-membersign... will match you up with local vendors with pricing you specified. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved response from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
Reply:they are very nice, you did well. however, i would add a few more flowers to each, there seems to be a lot of green

also, how many people will be seated at each table?, this amount of flowers would be best if placed on a table to seat 6 or more, any fewer and it would crowd the table. also, sit at the table and have others sit around you, do the peices obstruct your veiw and make it hard to talk across the table? if so, you may want to do something to raise them
Reply:Wow!! Those are very pretty!!! I think you did an awesome job!!
Reply:Very nice. The yellow one has too much green.
Reply:very nice!
Reply:I think they look great.

My only suggestion...in the yellow one, add some more flowers? It looks a little barren on the side you have pictured as it looks like all the flowers are towards the top. I dont htink the guests will be able to see the top of the yellow one, so maybe just more some of the flowers to the sides!

Looks great!
Reply:That sounds very nice!
Reply:Very pretty.
Reply:I love the one on the table. The one with the yellow flowers (I guess the 20") looks like it needs a couple more flowers; maybe something small. The tallest one is really pretty too. Nice job for a first time. I also used silks at my wedding except for the bouquets.
Reply:I think they are pretty. My critique is that there seems to be just a little too much greenery. I would add more flowers to all of them. And perhaps a softer pink would be in order. The other answerer is also right about pink and peach not quite going well together. But your arranging and scale seems perfect.
Reply:Too much green. Add more flowers :) Good job though.
Reply:I think you did a pretty nice job
